Comparisons
Autopilot and Plutus: what each one is, and what to compare
Plutus and Autopilot compared: a single house strategy versus a marketplace of Pilots, both running in your own brokerage account.
I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. First, the name confusion, because there's more than one company called Plutus.
This page is about the investing platform at runplutus.com, not the rewards card company. With that settled, here's how the two compare.
One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.
1) What Plutus is
On its own website, as read on September 23, 2026, Plutus describes itself as building holistic, actively managed portfolios using independent research, and executing the strategy in your own brokerage account.
So Plutus runs its own portfolios, drawing on independent research, inside an account you already hold.
2) What Autopilot is
Autopilot is an app where you follow a Portfolio in the brokerage account you already have. Autopilot Advisers, LLC is a registered investment adviser. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.
The Portfolios come from many sources: independent Pilots who create and manage their own, AI-model Portfolios run by Pilots, and trackers Autopilot builds on public SEC filings.
3) Where they actually differ
The shared idea is the same: your money stays in your own brokerage account, and somebody else's strategy runs in it. The difference is where the strategies come from.
Plutus describes building its own actively managed portfolios. Autopilot is a marketplace, where many independent Pilots publish Portfolios and you choose among them, plus Autopilot's own trackers.
One model gives you a curated house view. The other gives you a range of people to choose from. Which you want is a preference, not a question of which is better.
4) What to compare
Who's making the decisions, and can you see how.
What the record is built from, and for how long.
Which brokerages each one works with, since that decides whether you can use it at all.
How the fees work and what they come to at your balance. For Autopilot, that math is in What Autopilot's fee actually means at your balance.
5) What it costs
On Autopilot: A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on for each Pilot you subscribe to. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.
I'm not going to tell you we're better, because that isn't something I can prove to you.
TLDR: Plutus, the investing platform at runplutus.com, builds its own actively managed portfolios and runs them in your brokerage account. Autopilot is a marketplace of Portfolios from many independent Pilots, plus its own trackers, also in your own account. Compare who decides, the record, brokerage support, and cost.

Plutus alternatives
Autopilot is one, if you want to choose among Portfolios from many Pilots rather than follow a single house strategy. Compare who makes the decisions, what the record is built from, which brokerages are supported, and the cost at your balance.
Is Autopilot or Plutus better for following investors in my own brokerage?
I won't claim either is better. Plutus offers its own curated portfolios; Autopilot offers many Pilots to choose from. Check brokerage support, how the records are built, and the fees at your balance.
Since Autopilot Advisers is an SEC-registered investment adviser, we have to put disclaimers on stuff like this. They're below, and the full version is on our disclaimer page.
