Derek Quick's Portfolios on Autopilot: AI Nuclear Energy, AI Safe Value, and Uranium Squeeze
Derek Quick's nuclear, uranium, and healthcare value Portfolios on Autopilot, their volatility, and how to follow them.
I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. Derek Quick runs three actively managed Portfolios, and two of them live in one of the most volatile corners of the market.
He says so himself. Here's what each one is, and what that volatility means for you.
One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.
1) Who's running them
Derek Quick is an independent Pilot. He creates and manages all three Portfolios.
His descriptions say he's invested in uranium and nuclear energy since 2019, has published hundreds of videos and several documentaries on the sector, and has provided deep value research online for nearly two decades. They also say he monitors the Portfolios daily and rebalances around major news.
2) AI Nuclear Energy Fund
Nuclear energy and uranium exposure through fuel cycle companies, reactor developers, and select U.S. uranium producers. The description ties the case to rising electricity demand from AI and data centers.
It also says, in his words, that the sector could stay highly volatile. That's accurate. Many nuclear and uranium stocks are small and thinly traded, and they tend to move together. The full sector picture is in Is there an app that invests in nuclear energy and uranium stocks for me?.
3) Uranium Squeeze Fund
A more concentrated version of the same bet, built around the idea that uranium supply is tight and could get squeezed. It's actively managed.
For those unaware, a supply-squeeze thesis can be right about the long run and still go through brutal stretches on the way. Uranium has a long history of exactly that.
4) AI Safe Value Fund
A different animal. The description says it focuses on healthcare, including companies tied to GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, that he believes have been pushed to multi-year lows by sentiment while still producing strong revenue and cash flow.
He says the thesis was inspired by the approaches of Keith Gill and a well-known Japanese swing trader from the dot-com era. That's his framing. The name is a name, not a description of risk, and every Portfolio can lose money. It's a value bet on healthcare, and value bets can take a long time to work.
5) The risk, said plainly
I want to be honest with you. Two of these three are concentrated in a sector that swings hard in both directions, and all three are actively managed, which means frequent changes and more taxable events in a regular brokerage account.
Size them like the speculative positions they are, and read the worst stretch in each record before the best.
6) How following works
Pick a Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.
A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on for each Pilot you subscribe to. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.
TLDR: Derek Quick runs two nuclear and uranium Portfolios, which he says are highly volatile, and a healthcare value Portfolio. All three are actively managed. Size the uranium ones as speculative.
