Autopilot reviews: the App Store and Google Play ratings, what people actually complain about, and how to check us instead of trusting a thread

App Store and Google Play ratings, the complaints we hear most, and how to check Autopilot yourself.

I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. If you're reading reviews of us before installing, good. Here's what the two app stores showed on a specific day, the complaints that come up most in our own support tickets, told against ourselves, and the two-minute check that beats any review, including this page.

One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.

The ratings, with a date on them

On September 15, 2026, the Apple App Store listing for Autopilot: Automated Investing showed an average rating of 4.6 stars across more than twenty-two thousand ratings, and the Google Play listing showed 4.7 stars across more than seven thousand reviews with more than a million downloads. Those numbers move daily, so check the listings yourself rather than this page. A rating is a fact about how users felt, not about investment results, and I won't quote individual reviews here, because a cherry-picked review is exactly the thing you should distrust.

What people actually complain about

Our support tickets are the honest review, so here are the recurring themes, from our own public help center. The app's balance doesn't match the brokerage's, because the app shows only what it manages while the brokerage shows the whole account. Returns don't match the Portfolio's chart, because following is proportional and lagged and starts on a different day. Trades sit waiting, because the market is closed, funds haven't settled, or the brokerage requires the user to approve each trade in its own app. Shares come back after someone sells by hand, because the allocation is the instruction and the system refills it. And people uninstall the app thinking that cancels the subscription, when cancelling is a separate step. Every one of those has a page in this Journal explaining the mechanics, starting with Where your money actually is when you use Autopilot: allocation, custody, and why the app's balance won't match your brokerage balance and Why your returns won't match the Pilot's: proportional following, timing, fractional shares, and the cash that never got invested. None of them is a scam. All of them are things I'd rather you knew before your first allocation.

Where the user conversation lives

There's a subreddit where users post about the app, and the App Store and Google Play pages carry the reviews themselves. Read them for experiences. Don't read them for the answer to "is it legit," because that's not an opinion question.

The check that beats a review

Autopilot Advisers, LLC is an SEC-registered investment adviser, CRD 331749. Search it on adviserinfo.sec.gov and read the Form CRS, which lays out fees, conflicts, and disciplinary history in the same format every firm has to use. Your money stays at your own brokerage, a separate registered broker-dealer; we can send orders up to your allocation and can't withdraw funds. Those two facts are what "legit" means in the checkable sense, and they're the same for a five-star reviewer and a one-star one. The full routine is in Is Autopilot SEC registered? How to verify it yourself in two minutes, and what registration does and doesn't mean.

What a good review would actually test

Not whether the app is pretty. Whether the person read the fact sheet before following, whether they kept their allocation within real buying power, whether they used withdraw and blacklist instead of selling by hand, and whether they judged the Portfolio by its dated record instead of a month. The people who do those things tend to write very different reviews from the people who don't, and the app is the same app. The whole starting sequence is in How to get started with Autopilot: the setup, step by step, what happens in the first fifteen minutes, and what to check after.

Frequently asked questions

Autopilot app reviews

On September 15, 2026, Autopilot's App Store listing showed 4.6 stars across more than twenty-two thousand ratings and its Google Play listing 4.7 stars across more than seven thousand reviews, with over a million downloads; both change daily. The recurring complaints in support are balance mismatches, returns differing from the chart, trades waiting on settlement or approval, shares rebought after manual sales, and uninstalling instead of cancelling, each explained in this Journal. Ratings describe user experience, not investment results.

Is the Autopilot investing app any good?

That depends on what you want it for. It follows a published Portfolio, a hedge fund tracker, a Pilot's own Portfolio, or an AI-model Portfolio, inside the brokerage account you already have, with Autopilot Advisers, LLC, an SEC-registered adviser, sending the orders and your broker keeping custody. It's good for someone who wants a specific investor's decisions in their own account and will check a fact sheet quarterly; it's a poor fit for someone who wants a diversified default without picking anything.

What do people complain about with Autopilot?

From our help center, the recurring ones: the app balance not matching the brokerage balance, returns not matching the Portfolio chart, trades waiting on market hours, settlement, or the user's approval at the broker, shares being rebought after a manual sale, and confusion between uninstalling the app and cancelling a subscription. Each is a mechanic of following inside your own brokerage rather than a defect, and each has an explanation page here.

Is Autopilot a scam?

Check the record rather than a thread: Autopilot Advisers, LLC is an SEC-registered investment adviser, CRD 331749, with Form ADV and Form CRS on adviserinfo.sec.gov, and your money stays at your own brokerage, where Autopilot can send orders up to your allocation and cannot withdraw funds. Registration isn't an endorsement and no Portfolio is a promise of returns, but "scam" in the checkable sense is answered by the registry, not by reviews.
