Is there an app that invests in defense stocks for me?
Is there an app that invests in defense stocks for me?.
I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. Defense is one of the few themes where the buyer publishes its own spending, which makes it unusually researchable. The Portfolios here take very different views of what that spending buys.
One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.
What the theme is
Defense revenue comes from government contracts, and a lot of that is public: budget documents, contract awards, program announcements, and the backlog companies disclose in their own filings. That's a better evidence base than most themes have.
The change worth understanding is that modern defense spending increasingly goes to software, compute, data fusion and space systems rather than only to platforms like aircraft and ships.
The Portfolios on Autopilot, and what each says it does
Golden Dome Portfolio and Deterrence Portfolio, both from LJ Eads, are described as built on open-source intelligence, public company disclosures, defense contracting activity, government budget and policy signals and space and missile-defense announcements. The Golden Dome description argues the program begins as a software, data, cloud, compute and command-and-control challenge before becoming a procurement cycle for satellites, interceptors, sensors and launch infrastructure. The Deterrence description makes the parallel case that the next era of deterrence is shaped by the technology stack as much as by the platforms.
Aerospace & Defense, from CV Research, takes a stricter evidentiary line. Its description says contracts are verified in filings rather than press releases, that it does not count contract ceilings, bid pipelines or requests without a legislative vehicle, and that backlog counts only if it is funded. Its stated thesis is owning suppliers the government cannot replace.
Modern Warfare and Autonomous Warfare, from Michael Sikand and Colin Kolano, cover adjacent ground, and Uncle Sam's Checkbook follows federal spending more broadly.
Why a Portfolio rather than one stock
Buying one company in a theme is a bet on that company. Themes usually play out across a supply chain, and the winner at the start often isn't the winner at the end. A Portfolio spreads the bet across the chain and keeps it current as the Pilot's view changes.
That doesn't make it safer in the sense people mean. Everything in one theme moves together, so a theme Portfolio is closer to one position than to a diversified portfolio, and should be sized that way.
The risk, said plainly
Defense is a policy trade. Budgets, administrations and priorities change, and a program that looks certain can be restructured or cancelled.
These companies are also priced for the current spending environment. Buying after a long run of increases means paying for expectations that already exist.
And concentration is real here: a small number of large contractors dominate, so the Portfolios overlap more than their position counts suggest.
How following works
You pick the Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.
A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on if you follow more than one Portfolio. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an app that invests in defense stocks for me?
Autopilot has several defense Portfolios from independent Pilots, held in the brokerage account you already have, ranging from missile-defense programs to the broader technology stack behind deterrence.
defense portfolio app I can follow in my brokerage
Pick the Portfolio, connect your brokerage, allocate money. When the Portfolio changes we send the orders and your broker fills them.
How do I invest in defense contractors?
Through public equities, and the research base is unusually good because budgets, contract awards and funded backlog are public. One Portfolio here counts backlog only when it's funded, which is a stricter test than most.
missile defense stocks portfolio
One Portfolio is built specifically around a missile-defense program, on the stated view that it starts as a software, compute and command-and-control problem before becoming hardware procurement.
