Jonathan Bulmer's Portfolios on Autopilot: AI Agent Economy, AI Power Infrastructure, and Humanoid Robotics
Jonathan Bulmer's rules-based Portfolios on Autopilot for AI agents, AI power, and robotics, and how to follow them.
I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. Jonathan Bulmer builds Portfolios the way an index company builds indexes: written rules, a scoring system, a set schedule.
That's not common, and it makes these three Portfolios easy to evaluate. Here they are.
One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.
1) How Jonathan builds them
Jonathan Bulmer is an independent Pilot who creates and manages all three Portfolios, and the descriptions point to the firm's website for the full methodology behind each one.
All three are rules-based. For those unaware, that means the holdings come from a stated procedure, not a day-to-day judgment call. Companies are scored on things like how much of their revenue comes from the theme, how relevant they are to it, their size, and how easily their shares trade. The scores set the weights.
2) AI Agent Economy
The thesis in one line from the description: AI agents need somewhere to work.
Instead of chips and data centers, this one holds the software side. Agent platforms, enterprise software where agents do the work, and the infrastructure agents depend on, like data, security, identity, and monitoring. Direct agent platforms get extra weight in the scoring.
3) AI Power Infrastructure
The electricity side of AI. Power generation, grid expansion, and electrical equipment, on the view that power is becoming a bottleneck as data centers grow. The description argues this segment is underrepresented in most AI Portfolios.
It reconstitutes quarterly, with updates between rebalances when a rule is triggered.
4) Humanoid & Next-Gen Robotics
The robotics supply chain: motion control, machine vision, sensing, and automation, scored on each company's role in enabling humanoid and next-generation robots. Also quarterly. It's compared with the other robotics Portfolios in Is there an app that invests in humanoid robotics stocks for me?.
5) What rules-based buys you, and what it costs
A written rule means you can know what the Portfolio will do before it does it. That's the upside.
The cost is that a rule keeps following itself when conditions change. It won't make a judgment call in a strange market. I want to be honest with you: that's a trade-off, not a flaw, and you should decide whether you want it.
All three sit inside the AI build-out, so they can move together. The theme pages for agents and power are Is there an app that invests in AI agent stocks for me? and Is there an app that invests in the power and energy behind AI for me?.
6) How following works
Pick a Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.
A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on for each Pilot you subscribe to. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.
TLDR: Jonathan Bulmer runs three rules-based, index-style Portfolios on the AI build-out: agent software, the power grid behind AI, and the robotics supply chain. The rules are written down, which makes them predictable, and they all share one theme underneath.
