LJ Eads's Portfolios on Autopilot: Golden Dome, Strategic Power, and Deterrence
LJ Eads's Golden Dome, Strategic Power, and Deterrence Portfolios on Autopilot, how much they overlap, and how to follow them.
I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. LJ Eads comes at investing from intelligence analysis. His three Portfolios all start from the same view: modern defense and national power run on compute, data, and software as much as on hardware.
Here's each one, and how much they overlap.
One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.
1) Who he is
LJ Eads is an independent Pilot. He creates and manages all three Portfolios.
His description says he's an intelligence analyst and technology leader, Director of Research Intelligence at Parallax Advanced Research, founder of the data platform Data Abyss, and that his background includes Booz Allen Hamilton, MITRE, and the US Air Force, where he served as a signals intelligence and space network warfare analyst.
2) Golden Dome Portfolio
Concentrated on companies with credible roles in America's planned next-generation missile-defense shield, known as Golden Dome. The description argues it starts as a cloud, AI compute, software, data-fusion, command-and-control, and space-sensing challenge before becoming a larger buying cycle for satellites, interceptors, sensors, launch, and weapons integration.
It draws on open-source intelligence, company disclosures, defense contracting activity, government budget signals, and missile-defense announcements.
3) Strategic Power Portfolio
Despite the name, this isn't an electricity Portfolio. It covers the technology stack behind national power: AI processors, memory, networking, power semiconductors, chip-manufacturing equipment, data center power and cooling, grid modernization, and space infrastructure.
4) Deterrence Portfolio
The companies building the technology base of next-generation US deterrence: AI compute, high-bandwidth memory, custom chips, cloud, data fusion, defense software, space systems, missile warning, and AI-enabled command-and-control.
5) How much they overlap
I want to be honest with you. All three draw on the same research sources and the same core view, and their descriptions name many of the same kinds of companies. Following two or three of them may give you less diversification than it looks.
Defense spending also depends on government budgets and policy, which can change. The other defense Portfolios are compared in Is there an app that invests in defense stocks for me?.
6) How following works
Pick a Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.
A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on for each Pilot you subscribe to. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.
TLDR: LJ Eads runs three defense and national-power Portfolios on Autopilot: Golden Dome for missile defense, Strategic Power for the compute and infrastructure stack, and Deterrence for the technology behind modern deterrence. They share sources and a core view, so they may overlap.
