Is there an app that follows what Reddit is buying?.

I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. Social sentiment as an investment input is either a real signal or the purest form of chasing, depending entirely on how it's filtered. The two Portfolios here filter very differently, and that's the whole comparison.

One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.

What the theme is

Retail conversation moves prices, sometimes a lot, and it's measurable in a way most sentiment isn't because the posts are public and timestamped. The question is whether measuring it tells you anything that isn't already in the price by the time you can act on it.

It's a momentum signal with a short half-life, and it behaves like one.

The Portfolios on Autopilot, and what each says it does

Reddit's Favorites, from a Pilot called Invested, is described as capturing small and mid-cap stocks breaking through on the largest investing communities. Its stated data source ingests Reddit mentions every five minutes and scores sentiment on a rolling fourteen-day basis, ranking candidates by a composite of mention volume, mention growth and sentiment strength, then gating each one by a separate AI score so that a company needs alternative-data support beyond the chatter alone.

That gate is the design decision worth noticing. Without it, the strategy is pure hype-following; with it, hype is a screen rather than the thesis.

Reddit Trends, from InTheMoney, is simpler and says so. Its description says it tracks the ten most mentioned stocks across major investing subreddits using a free public site as its source, equal-weighted at the start of the month, modified as situations develop and rebalanced monthly.

Why a Portfolio rather than one stock

Buying one company in a theme is a bet on that company. Themes usually play out across a supply chain, and the winner at the start often isn't the winner at the end. A Portfolio spreads the bet across the chain and keeps it current as the Pilot's view changes.

That doesn't make it safer in the sense people mean. Everything in one theme moves together, so a theme Portfolio is closer to one position than to a diversified portfolio, and should be sized that way.

The risk, said plainly

Sentiment strategies buy what has already moved. That's the mechanism, and it means you're frequently arriving after the move that generated the attention.

Small and mid-cap names with sudden attention are thin, and thin markets are where the gap between the price you see and the price you get is widest.

Turnover is high, which costs money and creates taxable events in a taxable account. And the source is anonymous internet posts, which can be coordinated. No filter fully solves that.

How following works

You pick the Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.

A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on if you follow more than one Portfolio. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an app that invests based on Reddit sentiment?

Autopilot has two Reddit-sentiment Portfolios from independent Pilots, held in the brokerage account you already have. One gates the signal with separate data, the other tracks the most mentioned names directly.

Reddit stocks portfolio app

One ingests mentions continuously and requires an independent data score before including a name. The other equal-weights the ten most mentioned stocks monthly. Very different filters.

How do I invest in what Reddit is talking about?

Through a Portfolio that scores and filters the mentions rather than by reading threads yourself. Understand that it's a momentum signal with a short half-life and high turnover.

WallStreetBets portfolio tracker

The Portfolios here draw on the major investing communities including that one. Attention-driven strategies buy what has already moved, which is the mechanism and the risk.
