Is there an app that invests in space stocks for me?

Is there an app that invests in space stocks for me?.

Chris Josephs7 min read

I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. Three Pilots run space Portfolios here and they agree on one thing: the money is more likely in what everyone has to buy than in the companies with the best story. That's an old lesson applied to a new sector.

One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.

What the theme is

The space economy covers launch, satellite manufacturing, communications networks, ground control systems, positioning and timing, and the early commercial applications built on top. Most of it is public companies now, which was not true a decade ago.

The pattern the Pilots point at is the gold rush one. In 1849 the miners went broke and the shovel sellers got rich, and one Portfolio description uses exactly that framing.

The Portfolios on Autopilot, and what each says it does

The Space Economy, from Michael Sikand, is described as a high-conviction Portfolio targeting the next wave of orbital infrastructure, focused on bottleneck assets like launch capacity, spectrum, lunar landers, satellites, orbital missile defense and data.

Space Frontier: Picks & Shovels, from Julian Adege, applies three filters first: the company sells a bottleneck input to the space economy with pricing power, it is US-domiciled, and it sells to space rather than buying from it. Launch is the stated exception, on the view that it's the layer everyone above it pays. What passes is then scored on growth, cash generation, moat, management and valuation, with cash-burning names capped individually and as a group.

Space Infra Fund, from Prima Lux, is described as mapping the core space infrastructure stack across launch and access, satellite manufacturing, power and components, orbital communications, ground control, positioning and timing. Its own description includes a risk note saying several holdings trade at elevated valuations and many may remain unprofitable for extended periods, and tells you to invest with caution.

Why a Portfolio rather than one stock

Buying one company in a theme is a bet on that company. Themes usually play out across a supply chain, and the winner at the start often isn't the winner at the end. A Portfolio spreads the bet across the chain and keeps it current as the Pilot's view changes.

That doesn't make it safer in the sense people mean. Everything in one theme moves together, so a theme Portfolio is closer to one position than to a diversified portfolio, and should be sized that way.

The risk, said plainly

Space companies have long development cycles and consume cash for years before they generate it. Several of these holdings are unprofitable and one Portfolio's own description says so.

Valuations reflect a lot of expected future. Sentiment in this sector swings hard on single launches and single contracts.

And the biggest private space company is not purchasable, which means the most successful part of the sector may never be in your account.

How following works

You pick the Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.

A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on if you follow more than one Portfolio. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an app that invests in space stocks for me?

Autopilot has three space Portfolios from independent Pilots, held in the brokerage account you already have, focused mostly on infrastructure and bottleneck suppliers rather than on application companies.

space economy portfolio app

One targets orbital infrastructure bottlenecks, one screens for US-domiciled bottleneck suppliers with pricing power, and one maps the full infrastructure stack. Read each description in the app.

How do I invest in the space economy?

Through public equities across launch, satellites, ground systems and components. The largest private launch company isn't purchasable, which is a real limit on the whole category.
