Berkshire Hathaway's latest 13F: what Buffett's company bought and sold, and how the Buffett Tracker follows it

Berkshire Hathaway's latest 13F was filed on August 14, 2026, for the quarter that ended June 30. It lists 29 stocks worth $299.3 billion.
The five biggest are Apple, American Express, Alphabet, Coca-Cola, and Bank of America. The biggest buy was Alphabet. The one stock it sold completely was Constellation Brands.
Let me explain what's in the filing, what changed, what's happened since, and what a 13F can't tell you.
1) The filing
For those unaware, a Form 13F is a quarterly report big investment managers file with the SEC, listing their US stock holdings. It's due 45 days after each quarter ends.
Berkshire's is Form 13F-HR, accession 0001193125-26-352200, for June 30, 2026, filed August 14, 2026. As of October 9, there's no amendment.
The filing has 89 lines, because Berkshire splits a stock across lines by which of its companies share the decision. Added up, that's 29 different stocks, which is 26 companies, because Alphabet, Lennar, and Liberty Live each have two share classes.
One more thing people ask about. Warren Buffett is still Berkshire's Chairman, but Greg Abel signed the 2025 shareholder letter as CEO, and it says responsibility for Berkshire's stock investments "ultimately resides with me as CEO." Ted Weschler manages about 6% of Berkshire's investments. A 13F doesn't say who made which call.
2) The top 15 holdings
| # | Company | Shares | Reported value | % of total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Apple | 227,917,808 | $65,950,296,923 | 22.04% |
| 2 | American Express | 151,610,700 | $51,282,319,275 | 17.14% |
| 3 | Coca-Cola | 400,000,000 | $32,508,000,000 | 10.86% |
| 4 | Alphabet (Class A) | 78,791,167 | $28,157,599,351 | 9.41% |
| 5 | Bank of America | 483,394,015 | $27,543,790,975 | 9.20% |
| 6 | Chevron | 84,375,856 | $13,986,141,890 | 4.67% |
| 7 | Occidental Petroleum | 264,941,431 | $12,868,205,304 | 4.30% |
| 8 | Chubb | 34,249,183 | $11,670,066,615 | 3.90% |
| 9 | Moody's | 24,669,778 | $11,173,435,852 | 3.73% |
| 10 | Alphabet (Class C) | 27,188,433 | $9,606,489,032 | 3.21% |
| 11 | Kraft Heinz | 325,634,818 | $7,691,494,401 | 2.57% |
| 12 | DaVita | 28,880,209 | $6,425,268,898 | 2.15% |
| 13 | Delta Air Lines | 57,320,000 | $5,368,591,200 | 1.79% |
| 14 | SiriusXM | 124,807,117 | $3,686,802,237 | 1.23% |
| 15 | VeriSign | 8,989,880 | $2,261,494,212 | 0.76% |
To put that into context, those 15 stocks are about 97% of the whole filing. The other 14 are each under 1%: Kroger, Ally Financial, Lennar (two share classes), Liberty Live (two series), The New York Times, Capital One, Louisiana-Pacific, Nucor, Macy's, NVR, Jefferies, and D.R. Horton.
Count Alphabet's two share classes together and it's 12.62% of the filing, Berkshire's third-biggest company holding.
3) What changed since March 31
Bought or added:
- Alphabet: about 48.1 million more shares across both classes. The biggest move in the filing.
- Delta Air Lines: 17,510,544 more shares.
- Macy's: 4,309,071 more shares.
- Lennar: 3,012,099 more Class A shares and 60,414 more Class B.
- The New York Times: 553,465 more shares.
- D.R. Horton: new, but tiny, 3,564 shares worth $580,504.
Trimmed:
- Bank of America: 30,230,150 fewer shares.
- Kroger: 11,000,000 fewer.
- Capital One: 4,150,000 fewer.
- Nucor: 2,049,323 fewer.
- Ally Financial: 2,000,000 fewer.
- DaVita: 1,220,376 fewer.
Sold completely: Constellation Brands, 632,890 shares.
Unchanged: Apple, American Express, Coca-Cola, Chevron, Occidental, Chubb, Moody's, Kraft Heinz, SiriusXM, VeriSign, and a few small ones.
4) What's happened since June 30
A 13F is a snapshot. Other filings can show moves after it, one company at a time.
For those unaware, a Form 4 is the report an owner of more than 10% of a company's stock files within two business days of a trade. Berkshire is above 10% in DaVita and, since September 17, Lennar, so those two show up. Its moves in the rest will show up in the September 30 13F.
- DaVita: a Form 4 filed August 4, 2026 reports Berkshire sold 182,980 shares on July 31.
- Lennar: Berkshire's Form 3, filed September 21, 2026, shows 21,050,601 Class A shares as of September 17, up from 13,111,741 at June 30. Four Form 4s filed between September 21 and October 5 then report purchases from September 17 to October 2 of 7,387,444 more Class A and 114,832 more Class B. That brings it to 28,438,045 Class A and 568,028 Class B.
To put that into context, Berkshire's Lennar Class A stake has more than doubled since June 30.
Those filings are on Berkshire's EDGAR page. The next 13F will show where Berkshire stood on September 30.

5) What a 13F can't tell you
Here's the problem. 13Fs don't have a purchase date. They only have the ending date.
So you don't know if Berkshire bought that Alphabet in April or on June 29, or what it paid.
The SEC's 13F FAQ and the form itself also leave out a lot:
- Cash and Treasury bills. Berkshire's June 30, 2026 10-Q shows $35.1 billion in cash and $324.9 billion in short-term Treasury bills in its insurance and other businesses. None of that is in the 13F. To put that into context, $324.9 billion in Treasury bills is more than the whole $299.3 billion in the 13F.
- Short positions.
- Foreign shares that don't trade in the US.
- Small positions under 10,000 shares and $200,000.
- Anything the SEC lets a manager keep confidential for a while.
And it's late by design. A 13F can show up 45 days after the quarter ends.
6) How the Buffett Tracker follows it
Autopilot Advisers builds the Buffett Tracker from Berkshire's public 13F filings.
Its method is simple. It takes the 15 largest holdings in Berkshire's latest 13F. If there's a tie for 15th, it takes the company with the largest market cap.
As of October 9, it holds those same 15 stocks. Its weights aren't the same as the 13F's percentages, so check them in the app.
It rebalances with each new 13F filing. The next one, for September 30, is due Monday, November 16, 2026.
7) How following it works
It's three steps. You connect the brokerage account you already have. You pick a Portfolio. You allocate the money.
You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to place trades. It can't move or withdraw your money. When the Portfolio changes, we send the orders and your broker fills them. The money stays in your account.
I want to be honest with you. Following a filing means following it late. Some Portfolios go up for years, some are flat for years, and some lose money. Research the person and the Portfolio before you put money in.

TLDR: Berkshire Hathaway's 13F for June 30, 2026, filed August 14, lists 29 stocks worth $299.3 billion, led by Apple, American Express, Alphabet, Coca-Cola, and Bank of America. It added about 48.1 million Alphabet shares and more Delta, Macy's, Lennar, and New York Times, trimmed Bank of America, Kroger, and others, and sold all of Constellation Brands. Since then, a Form 4 shows a DaVita sale, and Berkshire's Lennar stake has grown from 13.1 million Class A shares at June 30 to 28.4 million after October 2. The Buffett Tracker holds the filing's top 15 and rebalances with each new 13F, the next due November 16, 2026.
