Is there an app that gets me exposure to Anthropic and OpenAI through public companies?

Is there an app that gets me exposure to Anthropic and OpenAI through public companies?.

I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. Let me start with the part nobody wants to hear. You cannot buy these companies. They are private. Everything else on this page is about what you can actually do instead, and how it differs.

One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.

What the theme is

OpenAI and Anthropic are private companies. There is no ticker, no public filing of the kind you could follow, and no way to buy shares in an ordinary brokerage account. If you see something claiming to offer shares in either, be extremely careful, because that claim is the setup for a lot of fraud.

What is public is everything around them: the semiconductor companies, the cloud providers, the power and data center infrastructure, and the large public companies with disclosed commercial or investment relationships. Those trade, and their filings and earnings calls are public.

The Portfolios on Autopilot, and what each says it does

Brooker Belcourt publishes Portfolios organized around the major AI labs, including ones named for the labs and one for open-source models. As of September 16, 2026 their descriptions in the app are still being written, so read them there rather than taking a characterization from me. His investing philosophy across all his Portfolios is described in Brooker Belcourt's Portfolios on Autopilot.

Anthropic+, from a Pilot called Omniarchia, is described as a privately managed multi-asset fund built with Anthropic's tools and research, combined with ongoing market monitoring. Note what that says: the tools are used to do the research, which is different from the Portfolio being about the company.

The broader infrastructure route is covered in the AI data center Portfolios, which own the compute, power and equipment layer rather than the labs.

Why a Portfolio rather than one stock

Buying one company in a theme is a bet on that company. Themes usually play out across a supply chain, and the winner at the start often isn't the winner at the end. A Portfolio spreads the bet across the chain and keeps it current as the Pilot's view changes.

That doesn't make it safer in the sense people mean. Everything in one theme moves together, so a theme Portfolio is closer to one position than to a diversified portfolio, and should be sized that way.

The risk, said plainly

An exposure Portfolio is a proxy, and proxies break. A public company can be a major supplier to an AI lab and still have its stock move on something else entirely, because that supplier relationship is one line in a much larger business.

These are also crowded. The public companies associated with AI labs are among the most widely held in the market, so you are not getting something differentiated.

And being right about the labs doesn't mean being right about the proxies. That's the core limitation of the whole approach, and it's the thing to settle before you allocate.

How following works

You pick the Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.

A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on if you follow more than one Portfolio. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.

Frequently asked questions

how to invest in Anthropic

You can't. It's a private company with no publicly traded shares. What's investable is public companies with disclosed relationships to the AI build-out, which is a proxy rather than ownership.

how to invest in OpenAI

Also private, also not purchasable in a brokerage account. Be careful with anything claiming to offer shares, because that claim is common in fraud.

Is there a portfolio of public companies tied to OpenAI or Anthropic I can follow?

Autopilot has Portfolios organized around the AI labs and the infrastructure supporting them, published by independent Pilots and held in the brokerage account you already have.

Can retail investors buy OpenAI stock?

No. There is no public stock. Any offer of shares in a private AI lab through an ordinary brokerage account should be treated with real suspicion.
