Julian Adege's picks-and-shovels Portfolios on Autopilot, including Space Frontier and Cold War II, and how to follow them.

I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. Julian Adege's profile opens with: long-term investor, not a trader. The approach is picks and shovels: own what a trend depends on, instead of betting on who wins it.

There are three Portfolios. Two are described in real detail. One isn't, and I'll say so.

One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.

1) How Julian invests

Julian Adege is an independent Pilot who creates and manages all three Portfolios.

The description says Julian borrows Benjamin Graham's valuation discipline from The Intelligent Investor and applies it to the infrastructure layer of big trends. Julian looks at three things on every position, industry trends, macro signals, and company strategy, and dollar-cost averages into positions of conviction.

2) Space Frontier: Picks & Shovels

Three filters come first. The company sells a bottleneck input to the space economy with pricing power, it's based in the US, and it sells to space rather than buying from it, with launch as the one exception. What passes is scored on growth, cash generation, competitive moat, management, and valuation, and companies that burn cash are capped.

The description says it holds 14 US companies, reviews them weekly, rebalances only when the rules call for it, and is built to be held for at least three years. It's compared with the other space Portfolios in Is there an app that invests in space stocks for me?.

3) Cold War II

A defense and security theme across four layers: sensing, decision-making, defense, and energy. Every holding has to pass five tests before the theme counts: a real business, growth with real margins rather than growth bought with losses, a defensible position, clean governance, and a price that works without a best-case outcome.

It sizes positions so no single holding dominates. The other defense Portfolios are in Is there an app that invests in defense stocks for me?.

4) The A.I. Blind Spot

Its description says only: high conviction stocks.

I want to be honest with you. That's thin. With a description like that, the holdings in the app are the only real information you have, so look at them before you follow it.

5) What picks and shovels gets you

The upside of owning suppliers is you don't need to pick the winner. The catch is that suppliers still fall when a whole theme cools off.

And a three-year horizon means you'd have to sit through that. Decide up front whether you will.

6) How following works

Pick a Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.

A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on for each Pilot you subscribe to. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.

TLDR: Julian Adege runs three Portfolios on Autopilot. Space Frontier holds US suppliers of bottleneck inputs to space. Cold War II holds screened defense and security companies. The A.I. Blind Spot has a one-line description, so read its holdings first. Julian's approach is Graham-style valuation applied to picks and shovels.
