Dr. Lira's AI Finance Labs on Autopilot: every Portfolio, what each model was asked, and how to follow them

Every Portfolio from Dr. Lira's AI Finance Labs on Autopilot, the process behind each AI model, and how to follow them.

Chris Josephs9 min read

I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. Most questions about AI stock picking come down to one thing. Has anybody run the same kind of test on more than one model, with the rules written down, in real accounts?

That's what Dr. Lira's AI Finance Labs does. Here's everything the lab publishes, in one place.

One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.

1) What the lab is

Dr. Lira's AI Finance Labs is an independent Pilot. It creates and manages seven Portfolios on Autopilot, and every one of them uses an AI model as part of the lab's stock-selection process.

The model is the lab's research tool. It isn't Autopilot's, it doesn't advise anyone, and it has no access to anybody's account. The lab decides the process, runs it, and publishes the result as a Portfolio.

Two of the descriptions link to white papers that explain the method, written by the professor behind the lab. Read those if you want the long version. I'm going to give you the short one.

2) The seven Portfolios

Four of them are organized around a single model each.

Three are organized around a theme, with a model used to select for it.

  • The AI World War III Portfolio. Built from asking GPT which industries have historically been affected by geopolitical tension. It has its own page: The AI World War III Portfolio.
  • The AI Recession Portfolio. Built around holdings the lab expects to hold up in downturns. Also its own page: The AI Recession Portfolio.
  • AI ❤️ BTC. The lab uses ChatGPT and Grok to choose among U.S.-listed bitcoin and crypto-related funds and stocks, with no fixed weights and no leverage, per its description.

3) Three different kinds of process

This is the part people skip, and it's the part that matters.

For those unaware, "an AI picks the stocks" can mean three very different things. Here's how they break down in this lab.

A scoring system. For the GPT and DeepSeek Portfolios, the descriptions say the process gathers fundamental data on every stock in the S&P 500, pairs it with a set of macroeconomic data points like interest rates and unemployment, and produces a score for each stock. The top 15 go in. It rebalances monthly.

A prompted selection. For the Grok Portfolio, the lab prompts the model to select 15 assets, holds them for a month, and redoes the full analysis at month end.

A research setup with its own timing. For the Claude Portfolio, the description says the lab uses Claude inside a multi-agent research process, and trade timing comes out of that process rather than a fixed calendar.

Same lab. Three shapes. A monthly rebalance and an event-driven one will behave very differently in your account, especially at tax time in a regular brokerage account.

4) What I'd check before following any of them

I want to be honest with you. A model producing picks is not a promise about returns, and nobody can make you that promise. Some Portfolios go up for years. Some are flat for years.

What you can check is the process. Is it written down? How often does it change? How many positions does it hold? What was the worst stretch it went through? Those four answers tell you more than any headline.

Don't do the research on the stocks. Do the research on the process, and on who runs it.

5) How following works

You pick a Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.

Nothing transfers out of your account. It connects the way Venmo connects to your bank account.

A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on for each Pilot you subscribe to. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.

TLDR: Dr. Lira's AI Finance Labs is an independent Pilot running seven Portfolios, each using an AI model inside a documented process. Four are one-model tests. Three are themes. Read the process before the record, and read the record before you allocate.
