The AI World War III Portfolio: what GPT was asked to build, what it holds by design, and how to follow it

What the AI World War III Portfolio holds by design, how Dr. Lira's AI Finance Labs used GPT to build it, and why the name isn't a forecast.

I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. The name makes people nervous, and I get it. So let me start with what this Portfolio is, and what it isn't, before anything else.

It isn't a prediction. It's a question somebody asked a model, and a Portfolio built from the answer.

One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our disclaimer page.

1) What the lab asked

The AI World War III Portfolio is created and managed by Dr. Lira's AI Finance Labs, an independent Pilot.

Its description says the lab consulted OpenAI's GPT model to build a Portfolio around how markets have historically reacted to geopolitical tension, specifically naming the Middle East and Ukraine. The model's input was about which industries have tended to be affected by events like those.

So the lab uses GPT as part of its selection process here. The model is a research tool. The lab owns the decisions.

2) What it holds by design

The Portfolio's description frames it as a focused position in defense and aerospace, on the lab's thesis that governments are raising defense budgets.

I don't reprint holdings on these pages, because they change and this page doesn't. What's in it on any given day is in the app, with a date on it.

What I can tell you is the shape. It's one sector, chosen for one reason. That's the whole design.

3) What the name doesn't mean

It doesn't mean anyone at the lab, or at Autopilot, knows where the world is going. Nobody does.

It also doesn't mean the Portfolio does well when things get worse. Defense stocks move on budgets, contracts, interest rates, and a hundred things that have nothing to do with headlines. Sometimes the news is terrible and the sector goes nowhere.

If you're allocating because you're scared, that's worth noticing before you do it.

4) The risk, said plainly

Concentration. A single-sector Portfolio rises and falls together. A basket of defense stocks is closer to one bet than to many.

Policy. Defense spending is decided by governments, and governments change their minds. A program that looks certain can get cut.

Crowding. When a theme is in the news, a lot of money arrives at once, and it can leave the same way.

If defense is the idea you actually want, compare this with the other defense Portfolios in Is there an app that invests in defense stocks for me?. They're built from different processes, and the differences are the point.

5) How following works

Pick the Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.

A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on for each Pilot you subscribe to. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.

TLDR: This Portfolio came from asking GPT which industries have historically been affected by geopolitical tension. It's concentrated in defense and aerospace by design. The name is a theme, not a forecast. Size it like one bet, because that's what it is.
