Two ChatGPT Portfolios on Autopilot: Dr. Lira's GPT Portfolio and Rallies' ChatGPT, and how they're built differently
How Dr. Lira's GPT Portfolio and Rallies' ChatGPT Portfolio are built differently, and how to choose the one you'd hold.
I'm Chris, one of the co-founders of Autopilot. Search for a ChatGPT stock portfolio on Autopilot and you'll find more than one. Here are two of them, from two different Pilots, built on the same family of models in very different ways.
I'm not going to tell you which one to pick. I'll show you how each is built, so you can pick the one you'd actually hold.
One thing first, because we're an SEC-registered investment adviser and I have to say it. Autopilot is the app. The actual investment advice comes from Autopilot Advisers, LLC. If you want the full legal version of anything in here, it's on our legal page.
1) The GPT Portfolio, from Dr. Lira's AI Finance Labs
It's been live on Autopilot since May 2023. Per its description, the process gathers fundamental data on every S&P 500 stock, pairs it with a set of macroeconomic data points like interest rates, unemployment, and national headlines, and produces a score for each stock. The top 15 go in. Ties go to the larger company by market value. It rebuilds monthly.
The lab's bio says its strategies are designed by Prof. Lopez-Lira, a University of Florida finance professor with a Ph.D. in Finance from Wharton. More in The ChatGPT stock portfolio experiment that never stopped.
2) ChatGPT, from Rallies
It's part of Rallies' AI Arena. Per its description, Rallies uses GPT models with a broad research toolkit: SEC filings, earnings data, fund holdings, options flow, short interest, technical indicators, news, and Reddit. The description says there are no fixed rules on what it holds or when it trades.
Rallies publishes the reasoning behind each trade on its own site. More in Rallies' AI Arena, explained.
3) The difference that matters
The GPT Portfolio works from a fixed universe on a fixed schedule, and Rallies' ChatGPT runs open research with no schedule.
For those unaware, that changes what it's like to follow. A monthly rebuild changes on a calendar you can see coming. An open process can change any day, which means more orders, and in a regular brokerage account, more taxable events. Neither is better by design. They're two different bets on how to use the same kind of model.
4) How I'd choose
Read both performance charts in the app over the same dates, including the worst stretch. Check how often each one actually changes. Then pick the process you'd hold through a bad year.
They're different Pilots, so following both means two Pilot subscriptions. And GPT is one of several models on Autopilot; the rest are compared in GPT, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, or Gemini: how to choose.
5) How following works
Pick a Portfolio, connect the brokerage you already use, and allocate money. You give Autopilot Advisers limited authority to send orders to the account you already have. When the Portfolio changes, we send them and your broker fills them. The money stays put.
A flat cash subscription, not a percentage of your balance. Per our Form CRS dated February 2026, Basic Tier has no Base Advisory and Licensing Fee, and Premium Tier is $29.99 to $199.99 a quarter or $99.99 to $699.99 a year. Pilot subscriptions are separate and add on for each Pilot you subscribe to. Because it's a flat dollar amount, it's a bigger share of a small account than a big one, so do the math at your balance.
TLDR: Autopilot has more than one ChatGPT Portfolio. Two of them are built very differently. Dr. Lira's GPT Portfolio scores every S&P 500 stock, holds the top 15, and rebuilds monthly, live since May 2023. Rallies' ChatGPT uses GPT models with a broad research toolkit and no fixed schedule. Compare the records and the trading pace, then pick the process you'd hold.

For Portfolios inspired by publicly disclosed trading activity, there may be a delay between when a Pilot executes a trade and when that trade becomes publicly available and is incorporated into the Portfolio. This timing delay may affect the suitability or performance of trades when executed in client accounts.
Third-Party Pilot Portfolios are created and managed by independent third parties who are not affiliated with Autopilot, are not acting as your investment adviser, and owe you no fiduciary duty. Third-Party Pilots receive a share of the fees attributable to their Portfolios, which creates conflicts of interest for them and for Autopilot, and they may trade the same securities their Portfolios hold.
